Overview
Hello!
I specialize in helping founders tell their stories. Every author has different goals, so our first step is to clarify yours. Do you want book sales? Do you need a bridge to a new career? Do you need leads for your new business? Do you want to help other entrepreneurs? Do you want to impress your mom?
Whatever your aim is: we’ll create a book that achieves real impact.
Business impact comes from generating leads, reinforcing your authority, and opening new opportunities. Personal impact comes from capturing your hard-earned insights and values in a clear, engaging package—so you can stop repeating yourself!
Whether you already have a draft or you’re starting from scratch, I’ll guide you through every stage of editing and publishing until you have a book you’re proud to share.
My process:
Expect substantial edits, detailed comments, and lots of dialogue. The more we communicate, the more I can understand your goals and steer the project effectively. I’ll eliminate redundancy, cliché, and verbosity while maintaining the indiosyncracies that make your voice yours. I also excel at reorganization—refining structure, titles, and formatting to enhance readability and flow.
I prefer to work with clients who have allocated a serious design budget so it's not just a "text" book. Like it or not, we're making books for Twitter-brains. That's why I care deeply about high-quality design: custom typography, illustrations, infographics, and standout layouts.
When you hand your book out at a conference or event, I want people to flip through it and feel like they’ve received a gift, not an assignment.
Design is something we will talk about early in the process so that my edits have an end goal in mind.
A bit about me:
After graduating from New York University with a degree in English and Philosophy, I joined the Knopf and Vintage imprints at Random House. Later, I founded theNewerYork, a literary press that published 25 books and over 1,500 short stories and essays, with subscribers including Margaret Atwood, Lemony Snicket, and Mark Z. Danielewski.
Subsequently, I joined Melcher Media in New York City where I managed editorial and production for projects with Al Gore, Garth Brooks, Netflix, Neil Patrick Harris, and the Tutankhamun exhibits. My books—including a New York Times bestseller and several Amazon bestsellers—have over two million copies in print.
Since then, I've been running a boutique self-publishing agency called Raab & Co, helping founders and startups tell their stories. I recently helped an sustainable procurement-AI company publish an amazing book which secured them $26m in funding and impressed the former CEO of General Electric so much he joined the board and wrote the introduction for the book.
I live in Santa Barbara with my wife, two sons, and dog.
I'm so looking forward to talking about your book.
