Every month the Society of Visual Storytelling (SVS) runs a contest on their forum where illustrators are asked to create a piece of work based on a prompt word. October's prompt was "misunderstood monster" and I chose to draw the Donestre.
The Donestre is a guilty-hearted lion-human hybrid that can speak every language known to man. It uses this skill to lure travelers away from their parties where it devours all but their head, which it mourns with vigor. The Donestre hates its self and knows its actions are wrong but because of it's beastly instincts, it is doomed to repeat the infraction.
